Believes.

How can we know the consequences of all our decisions?
I have only one clear thing.. things come to our lifes because we call them.
When we make a decision, maybe we don't think about what could happen after, but certainly everything is connected; so the today decisions are the tomorrow events.

Do you remember when you ate such sweets during such years? Maybe yes, because you have cholesterol, so you may remember it.
Well, it's a slight example, but it contains the true, and the true is that all our decisions will bring to our lives the result of them.

I don't believe in bad luck, I think everything which comes to our lives we have brought them to us, maybe good or bad.. in any case our luck is made for us.

However, I like thinking of destiny, although a lot of things happen due to our actions,I think there's a small part of random in our lifes.
Human being moves in some direction and on his way he may find something or someone that may change his life in some way.
The thought that bad days will pass and good days will come soon is a belief that helps us to continue our lifes in a positive way.

It is said that there will be always someone who helps us and that belief that we are not going to be alone is very important to us.

So, if we have the power to control our lifes and do our best, why don't we do it?
We are the painters of our own lives, so it is our task to choose the right brush strokes and the colours to create a great masterpiece.

Christmas Time.

In Christmas Time, everybody feels peaceful and grateful and it's time to enjoy in family.
Of course, when we were children this time of year was the best to us.
We were with our family all the time, grandparents gave us money and Boxing Day were great, for me the best was the night before being nervous because I thought that the same Santa Claus would be under the same roof as myself.. and that was enough for me to not sleep in all night!

Now, we have grown up and we know the great effort our parents made to keep our happiness.
And it's in this moment when we need understand that Christmas Time should be every day of our life.
Bringing happiness to others and helping when somebody needs it.

This Christmas I've had an ill relative at hospital and anyway it's a bad news, but usually if it happens in Christmas it sounds worse.
But for me, the concern has been like any other month; it doesn't change in Christmas for me.

In my opinion we should keep the good feelings which Christmas brings, and try to forget such consumism on this days; so the really important is share all you have on your within and not such gifts.. because the true gift is you.

Spanish Education.

I'm a bit annoyed with the Spanish educational system.
If you go outside Spain, then you realize that most European countries are above grade level.
Fortunately, we can meet people from other countries and learn from first hand about their educational programs.
Every time a German or Belgian person tell me of their studies in their countries, it saddens me not to have been graceful with have been able to study in a place like those.

Last summer I went to Montpellier, a small city in South of France, and I spent a month there, so I could know many things about their culture, cuisine, education, etc
and there was one thing I was struck, and was that children could study absolutely any language they wanted in school.
In the family with whom I lived,it was a girl of 16 years old studying Japanese.
I felt so helpless..

In Spain the most that you can study in the institute under compulsion is English, I do not want to imply that other languages should be required obligatorily, but at least I consider it's necessary to provide an opportunity for those who want to have a good basis for languages, and also enhance the learning of English, because when we left school, I think that if we can conjugate the verb "to be" is to thank.

Human Rights Day

Today,on 10December, we commemorate the Human Rights Day.
Mainly, Human Rights Day 2009 will focus on non-discrimination. “All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights”. These first few famous words of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights established 60 years ago the basic premise of international human rights law. Yet today, the fight against discrimination remains a daily struggle for millions around the globe.

The realisation of all human rights - social, economic and cultural rights as well as civil and political rights – is hampered by discrimination.
I think today is a good chance to think about things we usually do and that maybe, they could cause a discrimination situation, because yet everyone of us can make a difference.

Without thinking of discrimination in particular, I want to highlight the work of human rights, recognizing the equal rights of all people, and in a world like ours is not inconvenient reminding this to most people.

Finally, I want to point out that a good way to avoid a discrimination situation could be treating others as we wish others treated us.

technologies

I'm not a reluctant person to new technologies, but merely I don't like them.
After all, they can help us in many ways; medical advances , in computers, in media, etc
And we'd be unable to do many things if technologies didn't exist, but there are people who is good at technology and manage it easily, however I don't belong to that group.
I always press any button of my computer stealthily, due to if suddenly it explodes..
I must recognize that thanks to technologies we can know all things which happens around us.

I think people want to improve machines for a better use, but there are many things that human being is still able to do and if we want to use machines to do the job for us, it's only for laziness..
Every time we improve machines in some cases, we can leave without a job to a person, because machines are cheaper in long term and more effective.

In my opinion, we must help ourselves by making machines to provide a service to us, and not to replace us.

Inspirational Quotes.

*All men who have achieved great things
have been great dreamers.- Orison Swett Marden -

*The past cannot be changed,
the future is still in your power.- Hugh White -

*A champion is someone who gets up,
even when he can't.- Jack Dempsey -

*You are never given a wish
without being given the power to make it come true.
- From the book "Bridge Across Forever" -
(by Richard Bach)

*As you travel through life,
your dreams will guide you,
determination will get you there,
and love will provide the greatest scenery of all.
- Michelle C. Ustaszeski -

These are really inspirational quotes that we often should think about.
I've found Richard Bach book plot's very interesting and surely I'll read it when I finish another book,"The Alchemist"..
I'd like reading many books at the same time, but mainly I must read other ones for obligation.
Books inspire me and I feel they become to me in a better person with more clearful ideas.
People think movies will substitute books, but actually, it's not true.
A book is an undiscovered world which gives you the chance to create everything in your mind, how great and powerful is our mind!
Movies do not leave us to think about anything, because everything is done in front of us.

If you don't know what to give as a present.. give a book! it's doubtless the best companion,well.. apart from a friend or a dog;)

the finishing line

I'd like to do something in this life which was worth to be remembered.
I mean, I don't want to reinvent the wheel or to be the Cervantes Prize winner,
I only want to do something to improve our society, so I thought what wonderful it would be to teach languages to African children..
Nowadays, children in rich countries aren't grateful for everything they have, however in developing nations children pay you with their smiles every day.
What a pity not to know to appreciate some things until we lose them!

Our society is based on the productivity and if you don't produce anything you are nobody,so everything around us is created in order to think that life is a competition and only the best ones triumph, we suppose that the rest of people live in the mediocrity; therefore, why not to be the best?..

Our life is really based on the pursuit of happiness, which isn't a competition because if everybody arrives to the finishing line, everybody wins.

Our Gifts

Is it very commendable to be a prestigious professional and to be part of the cream of society, but really not to know who you are?
Many people lose their way; maybe, they are so immersed in their jobs, relationships and valuables that they forget to be grateful for all the things they have.
I'm reading a book which title is "El mejor regalo",( There's an English version as "The Christmas Sweater"); this book appeared in front of me in a library and it attracted my attention I don't know why.
My mother said me that the book seemed like a storybook for children but I didn't think so.
Finally much to my surprise, she agreed to buy me it; and a few days ago,I started to read it.
I was surprised because there's such sensitivity in this book that while I was reading it I spent most of the time crying.
I'd like to put here its plot summary:

- "If You Could Change Your Life by Reversing Your Biggest Regrets, Sorrows and Mistakes...Would You?
When Eddie was twelve years old, all he wanted for Christmas was a bike. Although his life had gotten harder -- and money tighter -- since his father died and the family bakery closed...Eddie dreamed that "somehow" his mother would find a way to have his dream bike gleaming beside their modest Christmas tree that magical morning.

What he got from her instead was a sweater. ""A stupid, handmade, ugly sweater"" that young Eddie left in a crumpled ball in the corner of his room.

Scarred deeply by the realization that kids don't always get what they want, and too young to understand that he already owned life's most valuable treasures, that Christmas morning was the beginning of Eddie's dark and painful journey on the road to manhood. It will take wrestling with himself, his faith, and his family -- and the guidance of a mysterious neighbor named Russell -- to help Eddie find his path through the storm clouds of life and finally see the real significance of that simple gift his mother had crafted by hand with love in her heart before dying."-

I can't stop thinking about the true meaning of the gifts we give to one another with love.
Next Monday it will be my mother's birthday, so I wish give her sth with such love as this book has brought to me.

The secret.

How do you know where's your place in the world? How do you know which profession is for you? You can dream, but sometimes it's necessary to go down from clouds and to think really what kind of things you can do.
I'm a bit scared of choose something in my life and to discover that I'm not really good enough.
Can you really be whatever you want?
Theory says that all the barriers are in our mind, but is it true?
I really think YES,you could be all you want with effort; but I also think that to be a good professional,it's necessary to have an aptitude.
In my opinion, our destiny is being made for us at every step and all our choices change the turn of our way..

Life is a gift and my mother gave me another gift apart of life:)
She showed me how to live gratefully,BUT it's a "secret" or not..

what I really want.

When did I decide to leave my home to study which I wanted?I don´t know, but I´ve always known that I´m too independent to live with my parents too much time.
I love them, but I need my own freedom,I suppose how all the people:)
I remember when my mother said,-"Don´t you prefer to study English Philology and to stay in Valencia?"- And I answered,-"No mum, I really want to study T&I"-.
Although nowadays,I think what it would have happened if I were in Valencia doing another thing.

A few months ago, I started to imagine my future;what did I want to be in the future, what kind of person will I be..
And to dream is free, so I started to imagine.

I´d like to be a great interpreter, that is my main vision, so I´ve thought what kind of things I have to do to get it.
First of all,I must improve my english level very much,I have no limits in learning languages and I think French is easier to speak than English.
Because of this,I´m hardly sure to go next year, aaaaall the year to England to speak english aaaaaall the day,and one way or another I´ll finish with a perfect English pronunciation!

I´ll continue with my plans..

A day to remember..

Today has been a great day.
An International Symposium on Interpreting Studies has taken place on the university Jaume I, (when I study Translation and Interpretation.. what else?)
My intention was to talk about all the things which did possible in the past that I choose to study T&I in the present.
But today has been a day of strong motivation for me and I couldn´t not to talk about it.
The Conference has been in honour of Brian Harris due to his great task in favour of Translation and Interpretation studies.
Many outstanding figures in Interpretation have been present today.
So a lot of theories, some advice, many questions, many answers.. and the hope and excitation of many young students who hope some day to be like them.
To sum up, the best for me, apart of everything I´ve said before, has been when three former students have talked about their career as interpreters.
I can only say that when the colloquium has ended,I´ve started to cry of emotion.

Definitively, a day to remember..

at that moment.

When we were children, we were used to not taking any decision because our parents took them for us.
BUT, the time come for us to realize that we have to decide some things about our present and our future.
It´s a hard moment, because the human being is lazy by nature, and to realize that we have to spend a lot of time thinking about our options,it´s not easy.
It´s at that moment when we know we are starting to mature.
Despite the fact of we know it´s still so much to be done.
