Sookie Stackhouse is a special girl who works as a waitress at Sam's bar. But due to some peculiarity not very much success with the kids and that unfortunately can read the minds of people, and although it can be a torture, for others it may prove to be a gift. Sookie lives with her grandmother in a village from the world, located somewhere north of Louisiana, United States, Bon Temps, which is that it is a predominantly rural village, where nothing ever happens, and when there novelty is lived intensely, with the curiosity and expectation that the new awakens in those people used to have few emotions.
Sookie tends to raise mental barriers that prevent you can hear what others. So the kids do not tend to approach it, but all that changed one day in the bar that appears by Sam a vampire. Following a difficult and embarrassing situation, in which Sookie Stackhouse he saves the life of Bill, since bleed treat burns between them a strange relationship. At first just friends, then it is something much more serious, fall in love.
The only certainty is that Sookie's grandmother, with whom he lives, is delighted that her granddaughter at last has an appointment. But a serious problem haunts the inhabitants of this small upstate city. While Bill makes its appearance, a series of mysterious and gruesome murders begin to occur in the area. The question of whom or what makes plaguing the minds of villagers. The intrigue, mystery and the fear that many yearned to find in Bon Temps has made an appearance.
The truth that the whole plot and mystery of the crimes are solved one night when Sookie is left alone at home and realizes that someone out, it's Rene, the boyfriend of her co-worker Arlene, he is the murderer of all the girls in relationships with vampires and his brother, plus also the one who kills Sookie's grandmother, and at that time wants to kill her, but finally, Sookie gets rid of it. The truth is that Rene is completely mad and decides to kill all the girls who slept with vampires by the feeling of guilt that I had to have killed his sister and then molesting her.
In reference to the narrator, I can say that this is a kind of narrator protagonist, the novel is written in first person, where narrator and character are fused into one. The protagonist, in this case is a girl, Sookie tells us with his words, first-person everything you do, feel, think or see. So when he tells what he sees and does, the narrative is objective, but when transmitting his thoughts and feelings, the story becomes more subjective. On the other hand it is noteworthy that in the moments in which the protagonist talks to himself, is what is called internal monologue, where the protagonist expresses his fears and hopes.
The truth is that I chose this book, Dead until Dark, because it deals with supernatural beings such as vampires, and also because it is a book where mysterious things happen. But besides that I love books that deal with vampires, I want to mention that unlike the Twilight series, books written by Stephenie Meye, Charlaine Harris, goes far beyond not write a romantic book, where vampires never sleep. But much more suited to the legends of vampires, and who sleep in graves or under the earth.
The truth is that the way of writing of these two authors are completely different, Charlaine Harris, focuses much on issues like sex, but does so in a more vulgar and rough, compared to the books of Twilight, where everything is very romantic and the vocabulary used is much more careful.
Not really worth comparing the books of these two authors, because each type differently and that's what the difference. Charlaine Harris is a woman with a lot of imagination and that he shows in his books. Dead Until Dark is one of the best vampire books I've read, is both mysterious and makes you have fun while you read it, also is not at all difficult to read, well it is clear that there were words that did not understand was necessary to look up the word in the dictionary, but I had no problem to understand the context and focus of the story.
From now this book has created interest in the adventures of Sookie, as curious to know how they will end Eric and her, or if her relationship with Bill to continue, but this, I'll have to read the other novels, honestly fuck with anxiety.
